Guest Comments on the Deer Lake House
We have included selected comments written by our customers in our guest book. While we have selected some of the more positive comments, that fact is that we get virtually no negative ones. A number of people have offered suggestions for improvement (such as adding a telephone, putting a queen size bed in the second bedroom, etc) which we have generally taken to heart. To the writers: Thank you very much for the nice comments. You write better "advertising copy" than we ever could.
EXACTLY what I wanted!, August 11, 2010 Redmond, WA
This house on Deer Lake was absolutely perfect. I am a 'water rat' at heart and love being on, in or by the water and had had an image in my mind for 7 years since my first grandchildren were born. I could just SEE them racing off a dock, diving, leaping or cannon balling into a nice, small, warm lake. As I was sitting in a kayak out past the dock watching my 4 grandchildren racing down the dock and cavorting into the water in all sorts of various contortions my daughter asked me "Is this the picture you'd been seeing in your mind?" YES, it was! It couldn't have matched any better. The lake is perfect. The house is lovely, very roomy, with great windows looking out onto the lake, and a row boat and canoe available for us to use. The location of the house is perfect too. Close to the ferry and close to the salt water beaches. For 'water rats' like all of us, it was a bit of heaven on earth.
Lakehouse Retreat!, September 10, 2009 Spokane,WA
This property was all that it was advertised to be. We had a really lovely stay, and to come "home" in the evenings to a moonlit deck and dock, as well as waking up to all that beautiful scenery was such a peaceful treat!
Wonderful family time, July 7, 2009 Kent, WA USA
This spacious and well appointed rental house allowed us to spend time together as a family. We will be back soon. This place is full of charm and fun. Bring a float for the lake!
June 2010 Vacation, June 17, 2010 <3 Canoeing. Seattle, WA
Well first we would like to thank John an Yan for putting together such a great house.
We just got home yesterday from a 3 day 2 night stay at the house. Everything was very clean and well equipped. They had 2 canoes and 2 row boats. The lake is amazing at all times of day and even in the rain.
There are lots of geese and ducks around very cute. Not too far away from anything, ferry dock (Clinton- Mulketeo), other towns, and hikes.
Our one regret is not bringing fishing poles. The second afternoon we were launching a canoe and the neighbor was fishing and pulled up a fish. Then while canoeing a fish jumped up right in front of the boat. Then as we were taking in the canoe the same neighbor was pulling up another fish. Lucky guy.
John (owner) was also very helpful in recommending restaurants
We had a great time.

Hi John and Yan
Well, what can I say! Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to rent Deer Lake house, we have had the most fantastic two weeks vacation on Whidbey and topped by excellent weather it was rather hard to come home!
We did get about alot but also just chilled at the house - current score fish wise - Fish 2 Virtues 2 but had better luck with the Crawfish - think Tom caught a total of 16! We got into Seattle twice, went Kayaking off the San Juan Islands (and on Deer lake!!), went to the Olympic State Park, Boeing Factory, and lots of places around Whidbey. Everyone there is so friendly..............
Anyway thanks again for letting us use Deer Lake - we did try to clean up as best we could before we left and I did break a glass but have replaced it with something as near to as I could find, which I hope is OK.
Hope you both are well and we'll keep in touch if we may - we would definately want to go back.
our stay, August 24, 2007
John & Yan,It was great to meet you last Saturday, thanks for coming around early. We should have taken you to lunch and talked about the Island more and Vancouver. Our stay was a wonderful restful time, much to short. The kids enjoyed the new friends they made and the opportunity of exploring the Lake.We would like to be put on your list for next summer, not sure how far in advance that you book? Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to experience Whidbey Island and Deer Lake. If you ever contemplate selling, please contact us. Kerry and I were not joking, we fell in love with the Lake. Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your summer.
Fantastic Vacation!, July 9, 2007
Thank you both for a most wonderful vacation. Your beautiful home is just want we needed to escape the 100 deg heat of summer in Salt Lake City. We weren't quite sure what to do with our left over food. Hopefully you found a good home for the frozen chicken breasts and wings(bait-thanks for the tip it worked great!). Let us know next time ifyou prefer that we dump everything out or if you would like to handleit. We left the unopened stuff on the bar hoping that someone could use the food. With that in mind, I'd like to reserve next year for July 23-27(Wed-Sunday) at Columbia Beach. We were looking at the July 4th weekend but it looks like someone has already snagged that. If they change their minds, please let us know. Otherwise, July 23-27 will work just fine. I understand the weather is more predictable during that time and we are almost guaranteed good weather later in July. Well at least that's what Ed said after a couple of beers JI can't see that far on the Deer Lake calendar but if it is avail, please reserve the same dates for that as well. I'm thinking about bringing my adult children up and would need both places to house the crew. Thank you again! Let me know how much money to send and I'll get a check in the mail for you.
