Gone Fishing (to the Deer Lake House on Whidbey Island)!

The fishing is good at Deer Lake on Whidbey Island!  The trout are plentiful and good sized from the season opening in April until the end of the season in October.  There are bass as well for those skilled in the art.  Trout can be caught by many methods, but an easy one is to use a small (#10 or #12) egg hook on a fine leader with a weight above sufficient for casting and getting down to a depth of about 25 feet.  Put on a small ball of Power Bait, and coat it with Smelly Jelly.

The many trout we've eaten were very tasty.  The fishing can be good right from the dock, particularly early in the season and in the morning.

There is a specific season and licensing requirements.  Click here for fishing license and rules
